Bridge Creek is an Intensively Monitored Watershed within the Lower John Day Basin (OR). In 2009 and 2010 Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs) were installed in the stream to assist beaver in establishing stable colonies in this highly incised stream. We installed 20 groundwater wells in two floodplains, one adjacent to BDA installs and one to serve as a reference area and we've been monitoring these wells for changes in groundwater elevations and temperatures in response to the BDA installations.
Monitoring changes in patterns for these metrics provides evidence that restoration work is achieving project goals. Monitoring has been ongoing in these well fields since 2006.
